  • Master of the Sacred Palace
    Featuring Father Wojciech Giertych, OP, the Papal Theologian. Fr. Giertych is a priest of the Polish Province of the Dominican Order. He was born in England of Polish parents in the 1950s. Now known as the Theologian to the Papal Household, before 1968 this position was known as the Master (or teacher) of the Sacred Palace. From the establishment of this office in 1218, the position has always been held by a member of the Dominican Order, the first Master of the Saced Palace being St. Dominic himself. Fr. Giertych was appointed Theologian to the Papal Household by Pope Benedict XVI in 2005.
