Monks of the Iron Gate

Shot on location at the Exarchic Greek Abbey of St. Mary of Grottaferrata in Grottaferrata, Italy, Monks of the Iron Gate explores the life and history of one of the country’s oldest monasteries.

Founded before the Great Schism that separated the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Churches in 1054, the Abbey maintains many aspects of the life and practice of the East, while at the same time being in full communion with the Church of Rome.

Monks of the Iron Gate is a production of Orientale Lumen Television and was shot and edited by Robert Duncan in July 2010. It is available for purchase through Orientale Lumen Television.
